Jan Brandtszn was born in February 1693 in Harderwijk and his baptism took place there on February 24th, 1693.1  Jan Brandtszn's father was Brandt Lubbertszn Vermeer and his mother was Driesje Jansdr N.N.. He had a brother and three sisters, named Lubber Brandtszn, Petertje Brandtsdr, Lubbertjen Brandtsdr and Jannetjen Brandtsdr.  He was the youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Brand Geurtszn and Jannitie Geurtsdr.
