Philip Bastiaense was born in 1700 in Almkerk en Emmikhoven and his baptism took place there on October 31st, 1700.1   His godmother was Jenneke Philipsdr de Loo. Philip Bastiaense's father was Bastiaen Dirckszn Straf and his mother was Leijntje Philipsdr de Loo.  His paternal grandparents were Dirck Peterszn Straf and Willemke Jansdr N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Philips de Loo and Grietje N.N.. He had a brother and four sisters, named Jan Bastiaenszn, Anneke, Grietje, Grietje and Grietje.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 70 in 1770 in Almkerk.1
