Dingen was born about 1590.1  Dingen's father was Claes Claeszn van der Steeghen and her mother was Henderiksen Joostdr Doedijns.  Her maternal grandparents were Joost Adriaenszn Doedijns and Agnes Peter Jan Ottensdr Vuijthoven. She had three brothers named Joost, Willem and Claes.  She was the oldest of the four children.
