Jan Janszn was born in 1631 in Dussen.1  Jan Janszn's father was Jan Rouwbosch and his mother was Elisabeth van Timmermans.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Rouwbosch and N.N. N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Embrecht Timmermans and Marijke Adriaensdr N.N.. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Theunis, Willem, Walterus, Emmerentiane, Maria, Leentje Jansdr and Leonarda.  He was the fifth oldest of the eight children.
