Iewen was born in 1530 in Veen.1  Iewen's father was Jan Ottenszn van Rijswijk and his mother was Godefrida Ywaensdr van den Heuvel.  His paternal grandparents were Otto Janszn van Rijswijk and Janna Claesdr van Heeswijck; his maternal grandparents were Yewaen Govertszn van den Heuvel and Elisabeth Jansdr Colen. He had three brothers and a sister, named Jacob, Jan Janszn, Adriaen Janszn and Johanna.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 45 in 1575.1
