Jan was born in 1659.1   Jan's father was Gilles Parmentier and his mother was Catelijne van Landeghem.  His maternal grandparents were Franszn van Landeghem and Maeycken Schrijvers. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Andries, Gilles, Francis, Joost, Adriana and Margriet.  He is the fourth oldest of the seven children.
