Jan Gijsbertszn was born in July 1765 in Ermelo and his baptism took place there on July 14th, 1765.1  Jan Gijsbertszn's father was Gijsbert Lubbertszn de Mots and his mother was Maaijtje Jansdr Koopman.  His paternal grandparents were Lubbert Elbertszn de Mots and Evertje Hendriksdr N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Jan Aelten Koopman and Fenneken Willemsdr N.N.. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Lubbert Gijsbertszn, Hendrik Gijsbertszn, Elbert Gijsbertszn, Elbert Gijsbertszn, Evertjen Gijsbertsdr, Evertje Gijsbertsdr, Fennetje Gijsbertsdr and Maartjen Gijsbertsdr.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 74 on September 24th, 1839 in Ermelo.1
