Volmar II was born in 0960.1  Volmar II's father was Volmar I van Metz and his mother was Bertha van Bliesgau.  His paternal grandparents were Volmar van Metz and N.N. N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Gerard I van Bliesgau and N.N. N.N.. He had a sister named Richildis.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 69 in 1029.1
