Adalbert I was born in 0925.1  Adalbert I's father was Eberhard IV von der Nordgau and his mother was Luitgarde van Trier.  His paternal grandparents were Hugo II von der Nordgau and Hildegarde van Duitsland; his maternal grandparents were Wigeric van Trier and Cunegonde van Gent. He had a brother and a sister, named Hugo V Raucus and Hedwig.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 108 in 1033.1
