Peeter was born in 1755 in Brakel and his baptism took place there on November 9th, 1755.1   His godmother was Elisabeth de Kort. Peeter's father was Jan Pieterszn van der Meijden and his mother was Adriaantje van Giessen.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter Arienszn van der Meijden and Ida Sijmensdr de Gast. He had two brothers and a sister, named Peeter, Arien and Jenneke.  He was the third oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 66 on February 15th, 1821 in Brakel.1
