Philippus was born on October 29th, 1657 in Den Dungen.1  Philippus' father was Caspar Mans and his mother was Mechteld Jacobsdr van Vlijmen.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Mans and N.N. N.N.. He had three brothers and two sisters, named David, Wilhelm, Jacobus, Susanna and Willemijntje.  He was the youngest of the six children. He had two half-sisters named Maria and Francina.  He died at the age of 82 in 1739.1
