Dirk was born in April 1698 in Aalburg and his baptism took place there on April 20th, 1698.1  Dirk's father was Jacobus Mans and his mother was Michieltje Dirckx.  His paternal grandparents were Caspar Mans and Mechteld Jacobsdr van Vlijmen. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Caspar Jacobszn, Dielis, Willem, Robbert, Philips, Johannes, Magdalena and Jenneke.  He was the seventh oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 73 on March 11th, 1772 in Wijk en Aalburg.2
