Pieternel was born about 1692 in Uitwijk - Waardhuizen.1  Pieternel's father was Pieter Aarnoutszn de Man and her mother was Maaike N.N.. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Arien Pieterszn, Aernout Pieterszn, Jan Pieterszn, Aaltje Pietersdr, Eeltje Pietersdr, Willemke and Heijltje.  She was the sixth oldest of the eight children.
