Jan was born in 1761 and his baptism took place in Tiel.  Jan's father is Gerrit van Keulen and his mother is Cornelia de Cock.  His paternal grandparents are Willem van Keulen and Hendrina Deckers. He had two brothers and a sister, named Willem, Hendrik and Dina.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 77 on December 25th, 1838 in Tiel.1
