Grietje was born in January 1693 in Nootdorp and her baptism took place there on January 11th, 1693.1   Her godmother was/is Annetje Claesdr van der Grouw. Grietje's father is Jacob Jacobszn Hogervorst and her mother is Marijtje Dirksdr Vermeulen. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Gerridt, Pieter, Cornelis, Cornelis, Japik, Jacob Jacobszn, Neeltje, Jaapje, Japik, Japik, Cneia and Cnelia.  She is the fourth oldest of the thirteen children.
