Hendrick was born in July 1672 in 's Grevelduin-Capelle and his baptism took place there on July 17th, 1672.1  Hendrick's father was Michiel Deniszn de Haen and his mother was Maijken Gerritsdr Boom.  His paternal grandparents were Dionijsius Janszn de Haen and Claesken Michielsdr Vleesch. He had three brothers and a sister, named Deenis, Geerit, Antoni Michielszn and Huybertjen Michielsdr.  He was the youngest of the five children.
