Claes Corneliszn was born about 1612 in Maarssen.1  Claes Corneliszn's father was Cornelis Corneliszn de Haan and his mother was Grietgen Hendricksdr Spruijt.  His paternal grandparents were Cornelis Claeszn de Haan and N.N. N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Hendrick Claeszn Spruijt and Beirtgen Harmansdr N.N.. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Pieter Corneliszn, Cornelis Corneliszn, Hermen Corneliszn, Heijndrick Corneliszn, Merrichge Cornelisdr, Jannigchen Cornelisdr and Aeltgen Cornelisdr.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.
