Willem was born in 1685 in Haaften and his baptism took place there on March 29th, 1685.1   His godmother was Neelken Dirksdr. Willem's father was Aalbert Walravenszn van Haaften and his mother was Jenneken Peterszn Snoeken. He had a brother and a sister, named Walraven Aalbertszn and Stijntje Aalbertse.  He was the youngest of the three children.
