Dirk was born in February 1721 in Almkerk and his baptism took place there on February 9th, 1721.1   His godfather was Andries Groenevelt and his godmother was Neeltje Groenevelt. Dirk's father was Teunis Andrieszn Groeneveld and his mother was Jenneke Willemsdr de Lang.  His paternal grandfather is Andries Dirkszn Groeneveld and his paternal grandmother was Maria Jacobsdr Visscher. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Dirck, Willem Theuniszn, Neeltje Teunisdr, Johanna and Mieke.  He was the fifth oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 65 on July 4th, 1786 in Emmikhoven.2
