Arie was born in 1758 in Almkerk en Emmikhoven and his baptism took place there on May 28th, 1758.1   His godmother was Anneke de Graaff. Arie's father was Jan de Graaff and his mother was Maijke Block.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter Klaaszn de Graaff and Maaijke Ariensdr van Sintmaartensdijk; his maternal grandparents were N.N. Block and N.N. N.N.. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Anthonij, Arie, Klaas, Adriana, Maaike and Antonia.  He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Peter.  He died before 1760.1
