Adriaan was born in 1737 in Hoek (Zeeland) and his baptism took place there on February 24th, 1737.1   His godfathers were Johannis van Luijck, WIllem de Platte and his godmother was Ariaantje de Witte. Adriaan's father is Leendert Deij and his mother was Maria van Luijck.  His paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Adriaen van Luijck and Adriana de Witte. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Mels, Pieter, Jacobus, Catharina and Adriana Anthonia.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 71 on September 13th, 1808 in Hoek (Zeeland).1
