Cornelia was born on February 6th, 1763 in Zuilichem and her baptism took place there on February 6th, 1763.1  Cornelia's father was Jan Adriaans  Schilders and her mother was Jenneke van Wijnen.  Her maternal grandparents were Cornelis Ariens van Wijnen and  Willemijna Gijsberts Hoek. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Adrianus, Cornelis, Cornelis, Gijsbert, Willemke, Eelke and Maria.  She is the oldest of the eight children. She had a half-sister named Catharina.
