Matthäus was born in 1683.  Matthäus' father was Matthäus Aisenbrey and his mother was Barbara Oberbauer.  His paternal grandparents were Matthäus Aisenbrey and Maria Stritzinger. He had two brothers named Georg and Johann (Hans) Balthasar.  He was the second oldest of the three children.
