Chhotalal was born on August 19th, 1927 in Madagascar.  Chhotalal's father was Narotam Morar and his mother was Harakhbai Gangaram.  His paternal grandparents were Morar Anand and Lakhmibai; his maternal grandfather was Gangaram Ghela and his maternal grandmother is Nandubai Savchand. He had a brother and a sister, named Amratlal and Muktabai.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Manikant.  He died at the age of 88 on October 12th, 2015.
