Moses was born on March 11th, 1798 in Mile End.

Moses' father was Isaac Costa and his mother was Sarah. His paternal grandparents were Gabriel Raphael Costa and Ester Levy. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Raphael, Jacob, Benjamin , Samuel, Esther, Rebecca, Sarah, Hannah, Betsy and Rosa. He was the third oldest of the eleven children. He died about 1870 in USA.
