Hiram was born on March 1st, 1814 in Machias, Cattaraugus, NY. Hiram's father was John Fisk and his mother was Mary Jane Stilwell. His paternal grandparents were Col Samuel Fisk and Olive Fiske; his maternal grandparents were Barnett Stilwell and Lydia Fay. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Rufus, David, Charles, Abraham, Albert, Amos, Mary, Harriet and Susan. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 80 on March 5th, 1894.
