Thomas was born on March 21st, 1753.  Thomas' father was Capt Thomas Alston and his mother was Mary Crowell Hays.  His maternal grandparents were Edward Crowell and Sarah Vail.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 80 on March 23rd, 1833.
