Зинаида was born in 1906.  Зинаида's father was Сергей Иванович Гладких and her mother was Аграфена Екимовна. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Василий, Андрей, Афанасий, Ерен, Иван, Клавдия and Ульяна.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
