Marguerite's father was Josse de Bailleul and her mother was Adrienne de Halewyn.  Her paternal grandparents were Louis de Bailleul and Isabelle de Flandre; her maternal grandparents were Jean de Halewyn and Jeanne  de la Tremoille. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Henri, Jacques, Marie and Jossine. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Louis, Catherine, Jacqueline and Jeanne.
