Eliza was born in 1830 in Codicote, Hertfordshire and her christening took place there on June 20th, 1830.1 2   Eliza's father was William Roft and her mother was Sarah. She had a brother and a sister, named Matthew and Emma.  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 65 in June 1895 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.3
