Marey was born in 1796 in Bradford Abbas, Dorset and her christening took place there on November 6th, 1796.1   Marey's father was Thomas Bishop and her mother was Sarah Tuck. She had three sisters named Ann, Mary and Jane.  Jane and Marey were twins.
