Percy's father was George Robert Hutchinson Bengough and his mother was Alice Susannah Downing. His paternal grandparents were George Robert Bengough and Emma Sapsford. He had two brothers and a sister, named Arthur, Leonard and Alice. He was the youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 88 in 1971 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.²
