Lydia was born on October 6th, 1835 in Norton Bavant, Wiltshire and her christening took place on January 21st, 1836 in Independent Congregational, Heytesbury, Wiltshire.1 2   Lydia's father was George Bartlett and her mother was Elizabeth Farley.  Her paternal grandparents were William Bartlett and Jane Furnell. She had four brothers and two sisters, named George, Thomas, Thomas, James, Emily and Sarah.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
