Derrick was born on April 23rd, 1931 in Hastings, Sussex.1  Derrick's father was Charles King GAYLARD and his mother was Lilian Amy WRAIGHT. He had four brothers named Bernard, David, Edward and Harold.  He died at the age of 67 on June 18th, 1998 in Chichester, West Sussex.2
