George was born in 1890 in New Zealand. George's father was John Edward COOK and his mother was Fanny HALL. His maternal grandparents were Elijah HALL and Sarah SILVESTER. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Joseph, Ted, Sarah, Louisa, Annie, Lottie, Emily, Fanny and Daisy. He was the youngest of the ten children.
