Ann was born in 1881 in Stockingford, Nuneaton, Warwickshire.  Ann's father was William CLARKE and her mother was Mary ROBINSON.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas CLARKE and Sarah <UNKNOWN>; her maternal grandparents were William ROBINSON and Elizabeth JEPHCOTE. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, George, Sarah and Ellen.  She was the second youngest of the six children. She had a half-sister named Elizabeth.
