George was born in 1872 in Chacombe, Northamptonshire.  George's father was Clement CHINNER and his mother was Mary Ann DALE.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas CHINNER and Elizabeth WATTS; his maternal grandparents were William DALE and Sarah MOLD. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Frederick, Arthur, Emily, Amy and Alice.  He was the oldest of the seven children.
