John was born on August 9th, 1682 in Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1   John's father was John Thompson and his mother was Mary Thompson.  His paternal grandparents were John Thompson and Mary Thompson. He had twelve brothers and three sisters, named Peter, John, Ephraim, Thomas, Shubeal, Thomas, Peter, Isaac, Ebenezer, Frances, Francis, Jacob, Mary, Martha and Sarah.  He was the fourth oldest of the sixteen children.  He died at the age of 62 on November 13th, 1744.1
