Jane was born in 1845.1   Jane's father was Robert Milligan and her mother was Elizabeth Milligan.  Her paternal grandparents were John C. Milligan and Margaret Milligan; her maternal grandfather is John MacDougall and her maternal grandmother was Ann MacDougall. She had six brothers and four sisters, named David, Thomas, James Thomas, Samuel, Caleb, William N., Ann, Elizabeth C., Rebecca and Helen. She had eight half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Nathaniel, John, Nathaniel, Douglas Caven, John Robert, Robert, David, Alexander, Mary and Margaret.  She died at the age of 36 in 1881.1
