Juan Luis' father was Américo Gonzalez and his mother was Delia Sofía Lugon Fiant.  His maternal grandparents were  Máximo Lugon Seppey and  María Crescencia Fiant Imhoff.  He is the youngest of four children.  He had three brothers named Américo, Alberto and Rogelio.
