Shifra's father was Israel Shechter and her mother was Miriam Zvia Shteinberg.  Her paternal grandparents were Yitzhak Israel Shechter and Chaya Rachel. She had a brother and four sisters, named Haim Heine, Zipora, Mina, Leah and Malka.
