Pinkes was born on April 5th, 1860.  Pinkes' father was Anton (Leopold) Haas and his mother was Ester Wind.  His paternal grandparents were Josef Haas and Rebeka  Regi Wohl. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Baruch Lobl, Simon, Josef Adolf, Mor, Rebeka and Bella.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
