Jakob was born on January 7th, 1862.  Jakob's father was Ignatz Haas and his mother was Betti Perlstein.  His paternal grandparents were Josef Haas and Rebeka  Regi Wohl. He had three brothers named Leopold, Emanuel and Abraham.  He was the oldest of the four children.
