Yitzhak Herbert was born in 1925 in Przemysl, East Galicia, Austro Hungary, today in  Poland.  Yitzhak Herbert's father was Salomon Berner and his mother was Mina Kraut.  His paternal grandparents were Yitzhak Berner and Loti Stary; his maternal grandparents were  Herman Kraut and Ester Malka. He had a sister named Rela.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died  due to Holocaust at the age of 18 in 1943 in Przemysl Geto.
