Samual was born in 1835 in Bramley Leeds Yorkshire.1   Samual's father was Welfit Oddy and his mother is Sarah (Oddy). He has a brother and three sisters, named John Lawson, Mary, Elizabeth and Susannah.  He is the third oldest of the five children.
