Edwin Charles was born on September 5th, 1861 in Sheerness, Kent.  Edwin Charles' father was James Woodland and his mother was Elizabeth Hall.  His paternal grandmother was Ellen Phipps Findell. He had three brothers and a sister, named James William, Henry Samuel, Walter Fraser and Elizabeth Ann.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died at 3 months old on December 15th, 1861 in Sheerness, Kent.
