Kate was born on September 12th, 1873 in Brixton and her christening took place on May 10th, 1890 in Coulsdon.1  Kate's father was William Nathaniel Starling (Upholsterer) and her mother was Eliza Ann Handley (of Lambeth). She had four sisters named Ellen, Fanny, Jessie and Florence. She had a foster sister named Lillie.  She died at the age of 79 on May 23rd, 1953.1

Kate and Ernest were married in a religious ceremony on September 17th, 1895 in Chipstead Surrey witnessed by William Nathaniel Starling-Henry Cox Speller.2  They had three sons named Frank, Norman and Alec.
