Roger Newman (Fisherman)

Roger was born on March 14th, 1922 in Grimsby. Roger's father was Alfred Newman (Fisherman) and his mother is Ethel May Wales Warman. His paternal grandfather was Alfred Newman (Fireman/Engineer Trawlers) and his paternal grandmother is Mary Jane Atkinson; his maternal grandparents are William Wales Warman (Capt Fisherman) and <Unknown>. He had a brother named Charles. He died as a war casualty, Drowning, at the age of 18 on April 6th, 1940 in North Sea.¹

- Charles James Newman used to wait at the Quay side Grimsby for his brother.
  This day in April 1940 he waited and waited. Ran home to tell his mother that his eldest brother had not come home.
  His mother never accepted it and said that he would come home.
  It was not until 1982 after his mother had died that they found the Leonara in 20 fathoms of water.
