    So I now learn from Frank that during Tod’s visit to us, Frank had been driving Tod around a lot and while Frank was driving, Tod was  talking, talking and talking.
    
    In Hobart he started a small business hiring out tools and equipment and made a small fortune during bush fires. He lost it on the horses.
    
    He got a railway carriage or something similar in which he opened a café. He had a lot of glass bottles which he filled up regularly with water and a dash of squash in each. It was a very profitable way of selling drinks. Plus the machinery hire was going well as well.  This ties up with what Norman told Alan W.
    
    
    
    The sad story was that Tod had a son who died in a car accident. No more details. Frank also told me that his daughter visited us! BUT we have been led to believe that he had no other children according to his death certificate. Unfortunately he cannot remember her name nor anything else about her and is now unsure of her relationship with Tod after what I have told him.

  • grandfather William George and his wife.  My father told me that these two boys both emigrated to Australia after becoming seamen. One went to Sydney and the other to Tasmania.     I thought i would have another go on James Henry Walker's children in Tasmania, i went into the online telephone book and to cut a long story short I found a NJ WALKER at the same address as James was living when he died in 1975 (2 Albion st Glenorchy Tas) so i just gave him a call , and bingo i was speaking to NORMAN WALKER, he sounds quite old 74, and he does not recall all that much of the family one thing he did say was that he's father James told him that he (james) was left in an orphange ? and that they would not let him out for he's fathers funeral (1912) this was news for me. he does not have the internet so we cannot email him but we now have an address and a phone nbr 61 3 62727450
    he knows about JOSEPH CHARLES HERMITAGE and that he is sure that he was he's father's brother as they looked alike and even shared the same glasses and that JCH changed he's name, the family would just call him TOD (Theodore Owen Dunn) and he was told that the reason he changed he's name had something to do with taxes?, he also said that TOD ran a cafe in Hobart called Dunns's Cafe and then he had a tool rental business. he confirmed that he brother Brian is still living "somewhere" in Queensland and also he's sister Kathleen is still single and is "somewhere" in Tasmania, he said they really do not keep in touch.
    
    Some of the other things he said was that he's father told him he had fought in the 1st WW and was sent to India, he also remembers the name Lissie and that he's father had told him she used to beat up he's father.
