John Rao

John was born on June 5th, 1923. John's father was Antonio "Anthony" Rao and his mother was Angelina "Angela" Ravita. His paternal grandfather is Antonio "Antonino" Rao and his paternal grandmother was Venera "Teresa" Recupero. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Carmine "Carmen", Francesco "Frank", Robert, Pasqualina "Lena" and Mary. He died at the age of 88 on September 25th, 2011.

- RAO, JOHN, 88, of Prudence Avenue, passed away September 25, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence; surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Anne M. (Tirocchi) Rao. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on November 27. Born in Providence, a son of the late Anthony and Angelina (Ravita) Rao, he was a US Army WWII veteran and served his country proudly in the Battle of the Bulge. John was a Life Insurance Sales Representative for Metropolitan Life for 27 years, retiring in 1985. After retiring, he worked part-time for A.T. Siravo & Co. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew's Church. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Stephen M. Rao and his wife Rebecca Winner of Chagrin Falls, OH and John Rao Jr. and his wife Linda Perrotta of Newport; three grandchildren, Jess, Julia and Nina; and two great-grandchildren, Abbott and John. He was the brother of Mary Blasi and Frank Rao and the late Lena McDonough and Carmen and Robert Rao. His funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 am from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Bartholomew's Church, Lauren Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial with Military Honors to follow in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITATION WEDNESDAY 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904-5719.
